Intel Shows Off RealSense Camera with iRacing
World's most immersive gaming platform with iRacing, VRX and RealSense

Intel demonstrated a highly immersive gaming platform using Intel RealSense technology-based head tracking and running on the upcoming 6th Generation Intel Skylake processor. The head-tracking functionality was enabled for users to navigate their driving and flight simulators with real-time head tracking capability.



RealSense uses cameras to capture images of the gamer (or user) and integrate them into the virtual environment. In sim racing terms, think TrackIR.

The demo utilized a VRX motion platform, the iRacing iRacing Williams FW31 and at least a 50″ TV. The computer is also being powered by Intel’s upcoming Skyline processor, which makes for a good combo with the CPU intensive iRacing graphics engine.

Sim racers wonder how this would work with a triple screen set up., and if panning is smooth enough.

The bonus of RealSense over other head tracking systems such as TrackIR is the user not having to wear a receiver.

Intel’s RealSense will become available next year and hardware manufactures – such as Razer – are already signed on to offer RealSense products.
