Ricciardo to demo F1 car in downtown Austin ahead of US GP

As excitement for the 2014 United States Grand Prix continues to build, Red Bull and Infiniti have announced that they will be holding a special event on Wednesday 29th October before the race in downtown Austin.

Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel are set to grace the city streets in a special demo run featuring the 2011 world championship winning RB7 car.

This will be driven by Ricciardo, with Vettel getting behind the wheel of the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge prototype car that he helped to design.

The cars will be driven up and down Congress Avenue in Austin, with the event starting at 12pm CT on the corner of Congress Ave. and Seventh Street. A few lucky fans will also get the opportunity to ride around with Vettel and Ricciardo in the Q50 car.

The event will act as a fantastic preview for the race at the Circuit of The Americas, set to take place on November 2nd.

“We are thrilled that Infiniti Motor Company Ltd. is providing fans an opportunity to preview the power, speed and excitement of Formula 1 and the U.S. Grand Prix,” Dominic Iacono, chief marketing officer at COTA, explained.

“Seeing these amazing cars in action under the Texas Capitol is sure to draw in new fans while adding to the anticipation among long-time Formula 1 followers.”

This show run is just one of a number of events that are set to make the entire grand prix week in Austin one to remember. NBCSN’s very own Will Buxton will be hosting his Big Time Bash once again (date TBC), and a special fans’ forum will also be held on October 29.

Get ready Austin – Formula 1 is coming for a week of non-stop events and action.
